Aqua Blue Text Message Service

We have recently started using a great text service from Scubatext  This new service will enable us to keep in touch with subscribed members by SMS which should enable us to let you know of any late spaces on trips or if dives have been canceled at the last minute due to weather etc.

How can you start using this?  Simple, you can join in one of two ways. The easiest is to just send a text with "SUBSCRIBE AQUABD" to 07797801661 (without the speech marks though!)  Alternatively you can register through the website here

Dive Club News Aqua Blue Update. 3rd September

A very busy week last week.  With twenty one people of all ages who came along to both Beaminster and Bridport pools to do Try Dives.

Some great shore dives over the weekend off Chesil Cove, with some stunning life about.

Congratulations to Jim Bulman in passing his Dry Suit Speciality on Sunday.

We have Beaminster pool booked again for this Sunday the 7th September for Try Dives at 2.30pm and for the Seal Team training at 4.30pm.  All welcome to come along. For all Try Dives inquires and bookings please call on 07771906101.  After the pool session we are going to have a get together at the Red Lion in Beaminster Square at around 6.00pm for any of you who would like to come along for a chat and meet up.

Next Open Water course scheduled for the weekends of the 27th/28th Sept and the 4th/5th Oct.  Please call or e-mail back to book onto this course or if you would like more information.

We will be running a Enriched Air (Nitrox) course in the next few weeks. With two already booked on.  This Course involves NO diving so weather conditions are not an issue. Duration of the course is ONLY one Day.  If you would like to join onto this worthwhile course or would like more information please call as soon as possible or send an e-mail.

Very scenic club evening dive last Thursday evening out on Saw Tooth Ledges.

We have two spaces left for this Thursdays (4th Sept) evening dive, please call for a place.  Leaving West Bay harbour at 7pm aboard Huntress II. Please could everyone ensure that you have fully charged strobes and torches as the nights are now drawing in fast.

Best wishes to Dave Wilson, a regular visitor from the Stoney Cove area who is fit and well after having treatment for a suspect bend.  May the 6 weeks pass quickly!

Huntress II last Friday evening 29th August unfortunately did not run as there were not enough takers, which was a shame as the sea conditions were great for a change.

Have a safe and enjoyable dive where ever you may go?

Kind Regards, Jon and Gill.

Dive Club News Aqua Blue Update. 24th August

Well, as i am sure you can well appreciate the last week or so has been pretty traumatic to say the least!  Both Gill and I would like to thank all of you who have e-mailed (over 200 emails received) offering support, good wishes, and even jobs.  I hope we managed to reply to you all individually.  Also all the phone calls and text messages. THANK YOU. It's so good to know we made so many fantastic friends, from all walks of life over the years and look forward to continuing in the future.

As previously mentioned we intend to carry on organising the Club Dives and Trips as well as offering Diver Training, Kit Servicing, etc.  Just no coffee shop!  Courses that are still on going will be completed as soon as we get a break in the weather, so keep watching this space.

So moving swiftly on...

We have two spaces available for the Lundy Island trip on Thursday 4th September.  Including diving/snorkelling with the Seals. Please call for details on 07771906101

Last Thursday 21st August we managed (although a bit bumpy) to go out on Huntress II for the latest of our all day dives.  Diving on the wreck of the M2 Submarine and a good drift dive on Swyers Ledges.  Plus the evening dive out on the far side of Saw Tooth Ledges.  Commiseration's to Hughey Louis, sorry Louis but that nickname might now stick.

I have provisionally booked Huntress II for this Friday evening 29th August.  More than likely doing a Drift dive, depth over 18 meters.  Depart 7pm, minimum number required 8 divers. Call on 07771906101 to book your space.

West Bay Diving Thursday Evening Club dive aboard Huntress II running as usual. Departure 7pm. A few spaces still available. Call on 0777190610

Once again can we remind everyone that ALL booked boat dives have to be paid for, unless we can fill the place if you cancel.

Congratulations to Julian in passing his I.E. last weekend. VERY Well Done.  Also Congratulations to Mat in passing onto the next level of Master Chef. Can't wait to watch it.

We were asked to incorporate a Forum page so you can discuss different issues, get advice from other divers and also look for other divers looking for a buddy, add photos, etc. Check it out and lets get it busy.

Have a safe and enjoyable dive where ever you may go?

Kind Regards, Jon and Gill.

Dive Club News Aqua Blue Update. 31st July

Happy Birthday to Gill for this coming Monday, 4th August. (No you cant have a day off).

We will be closed tomorrow, Friday 1st August until 12 noon as we are doing Try Dives at Bridport Leisure Centre.

M2 Submarine wreck dive plus one other dive on Thursday 21st August. Only 4 spaces left.

The Fridays evening dives are becoming very popular, so we have decided to book Huntress II on a weekly basis for the next couple of months. If you wish to join us please get your names on the list as soon as possible to save disappointment.

This Saturday, 2nd August, weather permitting, Jon will be diving off Chesil Cove. Hopefully completing an Open Water Course. All welcome to come along.

Last Sundays dive off Seatown was a bit disappointing, as the visibility was not very good in the morning, but once high tide had turned it improved dramatically.   Also a large number of membrane neck and wrist seals split. If you have a membrane suit please check the seals after every dive and anytime the suit has been stored or not used for a period of time.   Also follow the manufactures guidelines on storing and looking after them. If you are not sure, please just ask us.  A few of us were lucky enough to go out on Paul's boat, diving the wreck of the Baygitano.  As usual full of life including a large Lobster and lots of Congers.  Second dive we just winged it and dived a new area with a depth of 11 meters.  Huge rock formations resembling spinning tops and flying saucers all over the seabed. Large shoals of Ballan Wrasse and Pollock plus a large Dover Sole spotted.  One of the most enjoyable dives i have had. Sometimes these speculative dives turn up trumps.

Diving Insurance. It has been bought to our notice that many of you probably only carry diving insurance whilst you are away abroad. Although here in the UK it is not mandatory to have any kind of diving insurance we highly recommend you take out third party liability insurance at least, the sign of the times i am afraid. If you belong to the BSAC or SAA your club membership should cover you, but do check. If you would like to talk to us about this or who provides diving insurance please feal free to as us. www.aquabluedivers.co.uk

Next pool session for Try Dives/Refresherc/Seal Team etc will be this Sunday the 3rd August from 2.30pm to 4pm. Please call the Dive Centre for more information. Phone No 01308-422105.

A range of second hand wet suits now available in store.

West Bay Diving Thursday Evening Club dive aboard Huntress 2 running as usual. Departure time 7pm.  Friday Evening Club dive tomorrow, 1st August, diving the wreck of the Baygiatano. Leave time 7pm.  Weather permitting.

Once again can we remind everyone that ALL booked boat dives have to be paid for, unless we can fill the place if you cancel.

Have a safe and enjoyable dive where ever you may go.

Please pop into the dive centre for a cuppa and a natter any time.
Regards, Jon and Gill and everyone at Aqua Blue Divers
